Doctoral

The Doctoral Program of Mechanical Engineering is the highest academic levels in the Department of Mechanical Engineering ITS. This program consists of basic skills education, special education competencies, and research. The program is designed to produce original and high quality scientific publications through research that contributes significantly to solve the problem of mechanical engineering.

The Doctoral Program of Mechanical Engineering Department is intended to produce graduates with the quality:

  • Ethical, integrity, environmentally sound
  • Opened and responsive to the emerging development of science,  technology and society
  • Ability to manage and conduct research
  • Be knowledgeable in the field of mechanical engineering
  • Highly motivated to develop themselves in the field of mechanical engineering
  • Able to work as a researcher, technology expert or mechanical engineering academic staff.

Doctoral Program at the Department of Mechanical Engineering ITS provides field of expertise that includes:

  • Energy Conversion Engineering
    To learn how to convert energy from the source into useful energy and the stems on courses: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer and its application on the course:  fluid machinery, aircraft lifter, solar energy, refrigeration engineering, aerodynamics, and the internal combustion engine.
  • Design and Manufacturing Engineering
    To learn how to design / design a mechanism or machine tools of static and dynamic hold on supporting courses: mechanics, kinematics dynamics, machine elements, dynamical systems and vibration. Related fields such as: Mechanics, Process Manufacturing, Industrial Metrology.

 

Master

Master program in Mechanical Engineering aims to produce academic staff and professionals who have a background in science and technology which have strong analytical skills. Students are expected to have a greater ability on the scientific expertise in their profession, for conducting research and development for further education.

Graduate Competences

Manufacture Systems

  • Master the field of manufacturing systems comprehensively and deeply.
  • Able to conduct independent research in order to get new innovations to the field of manufacturing systems.
  • Able to carry out the synthesis and evaluation of manufacturing systems problems.
  • Able to perform the identification, formulation and analysis of manufacturing systems problems.

Engineering of energy conversion

  • Master the field of engineering of energy conversion comprehensively and deeply.
  • Able to conduct independent research in order to get new innovations to the field of energy conversion engineering.
  • Able to carry out the synthesis and evaluation of energy conversion engineering problems.
  • Able to perform the identification, formulation and analysis of energy conversion engineering problems.

Engineering of design and construction

  • Master the field of engineering design and construction comprehensively and deeply.
  • Able to conduct independent research in order to get new innovations to the field of engineering design and construction.
  • Able to carry out the synthesis and evaluation of engineering design and construction problems.
  • Able to perform the identification, formulation and analysis of engineering design and construction problems.

Engineering of Design and Manufacture & Engineering of energy conversion

  • Being ethical, having integrity and is environmentally aware.
  • Being open and responsive to the development of science and technology and community dynamics.
  • Capable to manage and conduct research.
  • Is insightful in the field of engineering machinery and related.
  • Able to work as a developer of technology and/ or academic staff in mechanical engineering.

Graduates program of mechanical engineering is carried out within 4 semesters (2 years) with the maximum time limit of 4 years of the study period. The credit load is at least 40 credits, including a thesis in accordance with the curriculum. 1st semester academic calendar beginning in early September while the 2nd semester begins in early February and ends in June

VISIONS AND MISSIONS

Philosophy
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has the motto of pride that is uber alles, taken from the German language that means "above all else". For the community of mechanical engineering, it means a sense of pride as members of a large family of mechanical engineering and therefore will always do our best and be the best for the sake of upholding the name of Mechanical Engineering. The symbol of Mechanical Engineering of ITS is very typical and unique which is the letter red M – rotary. When the letter is rotated by 180 degrees, the shape of the letter M remains the same. The symbol represents a continuous and ongoing dynamics, and the red color of blood is evidence that the community of mechanical engineering has courage in creating and facing the challenges as well as having feelings of incest as a large family of mechanical engineering ITS.

Vision
To become a mechanical engineering education institution with an international reputation acting as a standard in institution undergraduate mechanical engineering courses in Indonesia.

Basic Mission
To promote mechanical engineering education programs to produce graduates who can compete in the global market, to carry out researches and publish the results of scientific mechanical engineering researches of quality in national forums, regional and international ones as well as to apply the results of these researches to help solve the problems of industry and society.

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (S1) has total credits of 144 credits and can be completed in 8 semesters. The curriculum of The Department of Mechanical Engineering is compiled to give strong foundations to graduates with scientific knowledge and engineering implementation in the field of engineering especially mechanical engineering.  In addition to that, graduates of the department of mechanical engineering were prepared to be able to compete globally in industry as well as in furthering their educations.

Goals

  • To render the education system and teaching in courses of mechanical engineering ITS on par with the international standards.
  • To produce competent graduates in science and technology as well as having good morals and ethics to be able to compete in the global marketplace.
  • To have high-quality research results to be published and patented both nationally, regionally and internationally and applied to help the industry and community issues.

 

Diploma

Mechanical Engineering Diploma program aims to fill the vacancy of Human Resources of medium level, where labor requirements at this level is quite large. Mechanical Engineering Diploma program of ITS is divided into three:

              D3 REGULAR:

  • Study of Manufacturing Sector
    To learn how to design a machine tool that stem from subjects Kinematics, Dynamics, Engineering Mechanics courses that application in Lift Aircraft, Vibration, Advanced Engineering Mechanics, Tension Experiment Analysis, Vibration and Mechanics.
  • Field of Energy Conversion Studies
    To learn how to convert energy from the source into useful energy and the stems on courses: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer and its application on the course: fluid machinery, aircraft lifter, solar energy, refrigeration engineering, aerodynamics, and the internal combustion engine.

The program focuses on teaching that is directed at a particular expertise in the application readiness oriented jobs, which produces output colleges which are able to overcome operational problems based on the high experience so it has the ability to solve problems quickly based on the pattern problem. The proportion of teaching theory between 40-50%, while the practice or skill between 50-60%.

The study load of Diploma program is 110 credits, scheduled in 6 semesters, consisting of two phases:

  • Preparation stage
    All students majoring in mechanical engineering diploma take the same mandatory subjects as much as 36 credits, which is scheduled in the first two semesters.
  • Diploma Stage
    All students majoring in mechanical engineering diploma shall take the same course as much as 74 credits, which is scheduled in 4 semesters including of 9 credit of courses in the chosen field of interest which are manufacturing study and the study of mechanical energy conversion.
