Afri El Hakim, a student of Mechanical Engineering in Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), cohort of 2022, exemplifies resilience and achievement. Following unsuccessful attempts in the SNMPTN and SBMPTN national university entrance examinations, he chose to spend a gap year gaining professional experience through training and employment in state-owned enterprises and the automotive industry. Subsequently admitted to ITS through the merit-based independent selection track, Afri has since distinguished himself by receiving over 75 awards, including six medals from the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas), engaging in research activities in Japan, participating in the International Youth Gathering (IYG) Asia, and earning the title of ITS Top Achiever 2025. Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has introduced ITSpa, a spa salt product developed from research on tunnel salt production in Kusamba. This innovation is the result of interdisciplinary collaboration between multiple faculties and the STP Maritim unit, combining locally sourced Madurese salt with essential oils to create a product that promotes wellness.
