In 2024, two students from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ELECTICS) were selected as ITS Ambassadors.  One of them is Ahmed Beryl Bayanaka, a male Computer Engineering student now entering his seventh semester. Known as Bil, Beryl has been passionate about public speaking since childhood. Supported by his parents, who taught him to speak in English from a young age, he has honed his speaking skills and confidence.

The ITS Ambassador selection process began with an initial document review that narrowed down the candidates to 47 students. The candidates then went through video assignments and interviews, eventually being shortlisted to 16 finalists. Beryl acknowledges that his biggest challenge was competing against many candidates with more experience. However, he believes that his presentation, speaking skills, confidence, and proficiency in English were key factors in his selection as the ITS Internationalization Ambassador. In addition to Beryl, Isaura Qinthara Heriswan from the Information Systems Department was also chosen as the ITS Innovation Ambassador, adding to ELECTICS’s pride.

As an ITS Ambassador, Beryl is tasked with enhancing ITS’s image. He must effectively communicate information to the ITS academic community and represent ITS at various events. Beryl feels immense pride and gratitude for the support from his friends and family. The experience of the selection process, especially answering questions in front of judges, ITS leadership, and an audience, was particularly memorable for him. “I am committed to performing this role to the best of my ability and collaborating with other ITS Ambassadors, hoping to help our esteemed ITS become an even better institution,” Beryl expressed with optimism.

Beryl has experienced many positive impacts from this opportunity, including making new friends, gaining knowledge, and acquiring valuable experiences. This role has also heightened his motivation to continue learning and self-development. Beryl offers an inspiring message to other students who aspire to become ITS Ambassadors. He emphasizes the importance of confidence, communication skills, and being a good example for others. “Often, we cannot predict what the future holds. Therefore, never give up on any efforts that positively impact yourself or those around you,” he advises.

With Beryl’s appointment as the ITS Internationalization Ambassador for 2024, he hopes to make a significant contribution and enhance ITS’s reputation on both national and international stages. May this success inspire other students to achieve excellence and uphold the proud name of their alma mater.
