Assalaamu’ alaikum Wr. Wb.,
All praise is due to Allah SWT. May all work programs and activities at the Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK) of ITS always receive His blessings and guidance. FTK was established in 1960, initially named the Faculty of Naval Architecture, and was later renamed FTK in 1982. Currently, FTK has four departments: Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Sea Transportation Engineering. All departments have been nationally accredited by BAN-PT with an “A” rating, and several have also received international accreditation (IABEE) and regional certification (AUN-QA).
The Department of Marine Engineering also offers a Double Degree (DD) program in collaboration with Wismar University in Germany, while the Department of Naval Architecture offers a DD program with Mokpo National University in South Korea. This demonstrates that FTK has gained international recognition, as nearly all departments are internationally accredited, and two departments offer Double Degree programs.
In addition to collaborations in the field of education, the competence of FTK’s human resources is also nationally recognized through various partnerships with industry, government, and alumni. FTK has been actively involved in providing technical consultancy to the maritime industry, government institutions, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), private companies, oil and gas corporations, as well as other service providers.
FTK’s human resources are also highly competent in collaborative research and innovation, as evidenced by several products that have entered the commercialization stage, such as AISITS (a vessel monitoring software) and ISTOW (a ship container management software). FTK has also engaged in research collaborations with Nuffic Neso in the fields of coastal and ocean engineering as well as maritime transportation, and with Wismar University in Germany on the Sustainable Island Development Initiative (SIDI).
In the next five years, we sincerely hope for and encourage even more contributions from FTK’s human resources, along with increased collaboration in education, research, and community service compared to previous years. The synergy among departments, industry, and government within FTK continues to grow stronger. Therefore, we are confident that FTK will make a positive impact on the development of marine technology at both the national and international levels.
Finally, we invite you to join us.
Vivat ITS, Vivat FTK.
Wassalaamu’alaikum Warahmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh.
