On January 28, 2024, until February 3, 2024, one of the researchers from ITS, Sri Fatmawati, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., participated in the Outbound Researcher Mobility (ORM) program to Japan.
Sri Fatmawati, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., visited and toured the campus area of Kyushu University, Department of Agro-environmental Sciences, and Laboratory of Forest Chemistry and Biochemistry. The purpose of this activity was to observe the classroom environment and facilities available at the Department of Agro-environmental Sciences, Kyushu University. The visit to the Laboratory of Forest Chemistry and Biochemistry also aimed to analyze samples brought to Indonesia using instruments in the laboratory, guided by Professor Kuniyoshi Shimizu. The activity continued with a guest lecture at the Laboratory of Forest Chemistry and Biochemistry, Kyushu University. This guest lecture was attended by students conducting research in the laboratory. Sri Fatmawati, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., explained the research topics she had been working on, which related to the utilization of natural materials in the fields of pharmacy and food, especially traditional Indonesian drinks known as JAMU. Additionally, Sri Fatmawati, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., also discussed with the students in the laboratory about ongoing research projects.
Kyushu University is one of the World Class Universities ranked in the QS World University Rankings top 100, especially in the subject of Chemistry (ranked 98th). As part of the outbound researcher mobility program, several metabolite identifications will be conducted at Kyushu University, along with data validation and paper writing. The activities were carried out from January 28 to February 3, 2024 (7 days). The output targets were a collaboration document between ITS and Kyushu University in the form of an Implementation Arrangement (IA) and a joint publication in an internationally indexed Scopus journal, namely the Arabian Journal of Chemistry (Q1) published by Elsevier.
The future plan for the Outbound Researcher Mobility (ORM) program involves establishing research cooperation between the Laboratory of Natural Materials and Synthesis Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at ITS and the Laboratory of Forest Chemistry and Biochemistry in the Department of Agro-Environmental Sciences at Kyushu University. This collaboration could include activities such as sample analysis support using the facilities at the Laboratory of Forest Chemistry and Biochemistry, student exchanges, internship programs, and visits by faculty members and students from Kyushu University.
