CASUAL JEWELRY MADE FROM RECYCLED COPPER AND BRASS METAL

Background

Metal is a material that can be processed sustainably without degrading or losing its original properties. The composition of metal waste in Indonesia alone can reach 6.86% by 2021 and ranked fifth as the highest waste composition which can potentially damage the ecosystem in Indonesia. Several companies are trying to respond to the concerns about metal waste in Indonesia, by revaluing metal waste into products such as jewelry, home decor, and furniture. However, recycled metal waste still has a low value in the eyes of society, causing it to be rarely used as a product material. This research focuses on the use of brass and copper wastes which are presented in the form of stories.

This design was carried out through several methods such as literature studies, and market research conducted on 5 female respondents who liked jewelry using in-person and online in-depth interview methods. To carry out product development which produces jewelry output based on copper and brass metal waste using texturing or forging, forming, and forming techniques.
