DESIGN OF CART FOR OPTIMIZING THE PRODUCTIVITY OF SEEDLING PLANTING ON PLANTATION AREA

Abstract

Indonesia has abundant natural resources, both biotic and abiotic. The diversity of fertile soils allows the growth of various types of plants, contributing significantly to the agricultural sector. Agriculture in Indonesia is divided into wetland and dryland areas, with dryland areas dominating the agricultural landscape. However, dryland offers great opportunities for agriculture. The use of agricultural tools and machinery (alsintan) is crucial to achieving food sovereignty, improving farmers’ welfare, and strengthening the competitiveness of agricultural businesses. The development of alsintan is a strategic government policy, with alsintan assistance programs playing a significant role in direct government intervention. Nevertheless, there are still various challenges in implementing alsintan assistance, such as difficulties in obtaining fuel and malfunctioning equipment, leading to high usage costs and inadequate results. Therefore, there is a need for an alsintan in the form of a cart that does not use fuel and requires minimal maintenance.
