DESIGN OF INTERACTIVE TABLEWARE SETS FOR FAMILIES

Background

 

The family has an important role in building the character and emotional development of children with the existence of parental communication patterns where today’s millennial parents tend to be more concerned about starting good communication and building closeness with children through one of the phenomena of eating with the family intensively. Departing from this, the design of interactive tableware for the following families is intended to facilitate and support family meals as a means of bonding through several procedures from; observation of partners, Wild Flower Pottery, to look for business opportunities as well as competitor analysis to formulate positioning. Conducted deep interviews with the millennial generation who are already married as users and buyers to study the concept of communication patterns between millennial parents and children, as well as analyze user needs where the topics of discussion that are always present when eating together include daily activities, school and studies, as well as emotions and the child’s feelings as a design reference. The results of the analysis show that the main needs for the development of tableware sets consist of; one serving container for rice with the concept of snakes and ladders game, one serving container for side dishes with the monopoly concept, one additional serving container as a means of delivering reminders, to do lists, and simple games, one serving container for vegetables as a means of rewarding, as well as dinner plates with challenge content to bring families closer together,
bowls as a means of expressing emotions, soup bowls to give simple gifts, spoons about feelings, and mugs with interactive content to give special messages.
