JEWELLERY BOX WITH INLAY TECHNICS OF WOOD AND METALS WITH THE TRANSFORMATION OF BERUS MATA BUAYA MANGROVE FLOWER FROM WEST BORNEO

Abstract

In this modern era jewellery is not only a common accessory, but also as a valuable collection object and to express the identity of its user, an individual at least has more than two accessories or jewelry to complement the appearance. Every year the trend of accessories and jewellery is increasing with different purposes of use so that the behavior of collecting different kinds of jewelry in society has emerged. Along with increasing the consumption of jewellery in the society indirectly the need for supporting products such as packaging boxes increased, unfortunately supporting product such as these jewellery boxes will usually not be used again after the purchase of the product and will only be waste. Jewelry boxes themselves have a variety of basic materials, such as wood, metal, glass, plastic, or fabric, and are often decorated with decorative motifs. In an effort to design an innovative jewellery box, the research took inspiration from the Acanthus ebracteatus Mangrove Flower. The research will utilize the Inlay Technique in shaping the motifs of the Crocodile Eye Brush. Through this research, it is expected to develop a new design of motifs inspired by nature, enhance understanding of the application of the Inlay technique, add high-value wooden products alternatives, and introduce the beauty of the Mangrove Flower to the public. This jewelry box product is intended for women aged 20-35 who have an interest in jewellery.
