Over time, Indonesia’s population has increased which has led to an increase in the need for living space. Due to limited land, vertical living spaces such as apartments are an option for some people. But the drawback of this residential space is that its small size makes the room feel cramped and claustrophobic. The kitchen is one of the areas that takes up enough space in an apartment with a kitchen set that is not small in size. Even so, there are still cases where cooking activities cannot be carried out effectively because the kitchen set provided is still inefficient. In fact, due to space limitations, some apartments also do not provide a place to eat or work.
This design has the goal of facilitating cooking, eating and working activities comfortably and effectively in the same area without making the room feel cramped or messy. Data collection was carried out by means of semi-structured interviews with 3 apartment residents and apartment observations. Then an analysis of the plan and the activities of the occupants is made in order to find their problems and needs. From this analysis, the final results of the study were obtained, namely the design of a space-saving multifunctional kitchen set equipped with an additional adjustable table to accommodate 1-2 people. This additional table can later be removed when the user wants to use it for eating, working, or other activities that require a table.
