UTILIZATION OF SONOKELING WOOD IN WOMEN’S HANDBAG DESIGN WITH INTERLOCKING JOINING SYSTEM

Abstract

One of the products of forest resources in Indonesia is wood. Of the various types of wood, rosewood is quite famous for its durability and strength, especially in the field of furniture. Apart from that, rosewood has its own unique pattern. However, apart from its use in the furniture sector, wood can also be used to support fashion, especially in the apparel sector. Design innovation is needed to produce new products using rosewood wood material in the apparel sector, one of which is bag products. Bags are products that are often looked at by women, because apart from their functionality, women are now starting to use bags as complementary items in mix and match clothing to harmonize their style and improve their class image in society. Therefore, this design aims to create a women’s bag product that is unique and different from women’s bag products on the market but still adapts to the style of modern society with reference to the Fashion Trend Forecast 2024. This is applied to ornaments made from rosewood wood, combined with a detachable strap using interlocking joining system. With this interlocking system, the bag has a detachable effect to make it easy to vary the various shapes and connections when carrying luggage.
