Surabaya, January 23, 2025 – ITS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Gauss Research Foundation at the WR III/IV Meeting Room, ITS Rectorate, with Prof. Leo Ligthart and ITS leadership in attendance.
The collaboration covers three main areas, namely education, research and technology, aiming to strengthen the development of science and technology. Prof. Leo Ligthart, participating in this collaboration for the first time, emphasized the global impact of this program. βThis program is a very important scientific first step. The world needs satellite support for more accurate navigation, positioning and timing. All governments on all continents need this technology,β he says.
ITS Vice Chancellor IV, Prof. Agus Muhamad Hatta, Ph.D., views this collaboration as a chance to enhance ITS’ role in education and research. βThis is a challenge and an opportunity for ITS to boost student participation in the project,” he said. In addition, the data generated from this program will provide significant benefits to the university,β he explained.
Gauss Research Foundation is known for its excellence in navigation, positioning and timing technologies. They invite researchers to work together to open a wide international network. ITS has an advanced navigation system that Gauss recognizes as a technology with significant potential for further development.
This cooperation also serves as a strategic step in managing big data, which has become increasingly important in today’s technological era. βITS has substantial technological strengths that need to be optimized, and Gauss acknowledges its immense potential,” he stated. This collaboration is a great opportunity to bring Indonesian technology to the world stage,β added Prof. Ir. Gamantyo Hendrantoro, M.Eng., Ph.D., who also has expertise in radio communications.
By signing this MoU and PKS, ITS and the Gauss Research Foundation are starting a new chapter of international collaboration, aiming to create a positive impact for both Indonesia and the global community.
