Team Visit with Stakeholders from CityUHK

The Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (ELECTICS) at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) remains committed to advancing innovation and technological development through flagship products such as the Autonomous Car (iCAR ITS), service robot RAISA, humanoid robot ICHIRO, and educational robots. To further these initiatives, the Center of Excellence for Science and Technology (PUI) AI-HeS secured funding from HETI-ADB to build a teaching factory. This project aims to establish an ICT-Robotics Cluster as a facility for robot production and support modules, as well as a learning platform for students.

Team Visit to AI Vision, Robotics Company

On August 19, 2024, a team from ELECTICS, led by Dean Prof. Dr. I Ketut Eddy Purnama, S.T., M.T., embarked on a trip to Shenzhen, China, with a focus on industries supporting robotic development. The team visited companies like Reeman Robotics, AI Vision, MINGDA 3D Printer, and MEC Battery to expand their supply chain network and explore potential collaborations in the robotics sector.

“As a faculty focused on technology and robotics, it is essential for us to build partnerships with industries that can support our product development,” said Prof. I Ketut Eddy Purnama. “This visit gave us the opportunity to broaden our network and gain access to advanced technologies, such as 3D printers that can speed up the prototyping of our robots.”

After visiting Shenzhen, the ELECTICS team continued their journey to City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) on August 22, 2024. CityUHK, ranked 62nd globally by QS World University Rankings, is well-known for its entrepreneurship and startup programs. The visit aimed to establish collaborations in education and startup development.

“This activity is a significant step in building partnerships that will benefit ELECTICS,” said Prof. I Ketut Eddy Purnama. “CityUHK has extensive experience in creating successful entrepreneurs and startups. We want to learn from them and explore collaboration opportunities in educational programs and entrepreneurship development.”

The visit to CityUHK followed an earlier visit by the CityUHK Rector and Dean of Graduate Studies to ITS two months prior. During that visit, ITS was offered the Master of Science in Venture Creation program, and further collaboration was discussed. This visit to China and Hong Kong represents a strategic move for ELECTICS in strengthening production capacity, advancing robot development, and opening new opportunities for educational and entrepreneurial collaboration. Through these international partnerships, ELECTICS aims to accelerate innovation, enhance educational quality, and support ITS’s vision to become an entrepreneurial university.
