Representatives from ITS at the Semiconductor Education Roadshow 2024
Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), particularly the Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (ELECTICS), plays an active role in strengthening and developing Indonesia’s semiconductor industry and human resources. As part of a delegation led by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Berlin, ELECTICS ITS participated in a strategic visit to several leading higher education and research institutions in Germany.
The visit began with attending the Bavarian Semiconductor Congress 2024 in Munich. This prestigious congress showcased the latest innovations in the semiconductor field in the Bavarian region. Prof. Dr. I Ketut Eddy Purnama, S.T., M.T., Dean of ELECTICS ITS, stated, “The Bavarian Semiconductor Congress provided valuable insights into the latest innovations in the semiconductor field that we can apply.”
On the second day, the delegation visited the University of Stuttgart and the University of Ulm. At the University of Stuttgart, the delegation was welcomed by university officials and shown their innovations in the semiconductor field. In the afternoon, at the University of Ulm, the delegation received in-depth presentations on semiconductor research and the collaborations that have been established with universities in Indonesia, including ITS.

On the third day, the delegation visited Dresden, known as the center of the semiconductor industry in Germany. The delegation visited the Technical University of Dresden and the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute (HHI). On the last day, the delegation held a meeting with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Berlin to formulate follow-up steps from the visits and meetings conducted.
ITS, through ELECTICS, is known as a strong university in electronics and semiconductors. ITS’s involvement in this visit demonstrates the institution’s commitment to strengthening semiconductor research and development in Indonesia. Additionally, ITS is involved in the formation of ICDeC, a non-profit organization aimed at developing human resources and technology in the field of Integrated Circuits (IC) in Indonesia.
This visit was also supported by various parties, including the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, and LPDP. The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs will focus on the development of semiconductors on the industrial side, while the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology will focus on research, and LPDP will provide research funding and scholarships for students who wish to continue their studies in Germany.
With FTEIC ITS’s active involvement in this visit, it is expected to accelerate the development of the semiconductor ecosystem in Indonesia. “I also hope ITS becomes a leader in the semiconductor field,” said Prof. Dr. I Ketut Eddy Purnama.
