The Dean of the Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK) ITS for the 2025-2029 period, Dr. Ing. Ir. Setyo Nugroho (left), was inaugurated by ITS Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MScEng, PhD (right).

As the spearhead of maritime affairs at ITS, the man commonly known as Yoyog aims to make FTK ITS an internationally recognized faculty. To achieve this target, Yoyog has prepared two main strategies: improving the quality of education and accelerating research and innovation at FTK ITS. “These two aspects will serve as the ammunition for FTK to improve its quality,” he said.

Yoyog continued, strengthening relationships with industrial partners will demonstrate FTK ITS’s efforts to enhance the quality of education. This step will create greater opportunities for students to conduct research and internships. It will also ensure that FTK ITS graduates have high competitiveness and can contribute to advancing Indonesia’s maritime industry.

Not only internships within the country, but FTK ITS will also facilitate international internships and globalization programs. Through the internationalization program, students will have the opportunity to study international maritime industry cases and apply them in a local context. “This also supports ITS’s vision as a World Class University,” he explained.

In addition to collaboration with external institutions, the lecturer from the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering at ITS also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to improve the quality of education within the faculty. He believes that synergy between departments can accelerate students’ knowledge and enhance the relevance of education with the needs of Indonesia’s maritime industry.

Regarding research and publication, Yoyog is also committed to driving innovation in the maritime sector through quality research. He aims to ensure that innovations are not only published but also provide tangible benefits, especially for the maritime industry sector. “We hope that these innovations can be useful rather than being locked away in drawers,” he stressed.

Furthermore, the founder of PT Pranala Digital Transmaritim also emphasized the importance of maintaining the consistency of the achievements that FTK ITS has garnered so far. This will be realized through a commitment to fully support research teams such as Nawasena ITS and Barunastra ITS, which have garnered various international achievements. “This way, students can continue to hone their skills and innovations,” he added.

Yoyog hopes that through these various programs, FTK ITS will increasingly contribute to advancing Indonesia’s maritime sector on the global stage. He also hopes that cooperation with various parties, both external and internal, will continue to improve to support the progress of Indonesia’s maritime industry. “I hope that with this, FTK ITS can contribute widely to society, both nationally and internationally,” he concluded optimistically.
