Tomsk State University has awarded diplomas to graduates of the Higher IT School. Diplomas were awarded not only to students from Russia, but also to students from Indonesia who studied in the double-diploma program established between TSU and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Ten students from Indonesia received TSU diplomas.
The double-degree program was established as part of cooperation between TSU and Indonesian universities. In the program, students from Indonesia studied Software Engineering at TSU and Computer Science at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Such exchange programs provide an opportunity for international students to come to Russia to expand their learning opportunities. The first two years of study are held at the students’ home institute, and the next two years are held at TSU’s Higher IT School.
“There were carefully designed academic disciplines in our two-year program,” said Khairi Wiryawan, a graduate of the Higher IT School. “The main focus is on software development, but the program also includes courses on life skills such as behavioral finance and learning inclusive culture. This comprehensive approach ensures we develop both the professional skills and personal growth necessary for our future careers.”
Khairi also noted that the most remarkable difference in TSU’s program is the profesonal experience of the lecturers. He said that there are many lecturers who combine professional activities and teaching in the Higher IT School, thus teaching is more practically oriented.
Tomsk State University has been cooperating with Indonesia since 2015, when TSU decided to establish close cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Tomsk State University in collaboration with Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) opened its representative office in November 2023, and it is the first representative office of Russian universities in Indonesia. It provides information, document-related, and academic support for cooperation between the universities and the two countries. For example, students from Indonesia can learn Russian as a foreign language and prepare for admission to a Russian university at the representative office.
