The Covid-19 detection tool made by the professor of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Prof. Drs. Ec. Ir. Riyanarto Sarno, M.Sc. Ph.D, i-nose c-19 finally were used directly to check the health of Ini Lho ITS! (ILITS) 2021 on-duty committee at the laboratorium of programming, Department of Informatics Engineering ITS, Saturday (6/2). This health examination was done to ensure that all the committee who worked offline are healthy and Covid-19 free.

As the annual agenda to promote ITS to the external parties, this year’s ILITS continued even though it must be done online for two days, on February 6-7. To supervise the live broadcasts and the event coordination, a part of the committee is required to work offline. “We remain aware of the importance of health protocols. Therefore, we have to make sure all the committee members present are fit and healthy, “said the Head Officer of ILITS, Auliansyah Rizki Teknikade.

This student who is familiarly called Rizki continued, the ILITS event committee was looking for the best detection tool to avoid unwanted possibilities, for example, a new Covid cluster. Rizki finally decided to use i-nose c-19 as a screening tool for the ILITS committee since it is easy to use and also has an accuracy rate of 90%.

The i-nose c-19 detection process is done by taking a sample of someone’s axillary sweat odor, after which the sample is obtained, the odor will be converted into an electrical signal and then is classified by artificial intelligence (AI).

The health screening process of the Ini Lho ITS! (ILITS) 2021 committee with the i-nose c-19

Before entering the Broadcast Studio at the Laboratory of Programming at the Informatics Engineering Department, the committee in charge is required to sit for a while to use a series of simple test kits from the i-nose c-19. “The shape of the kit is like a tube with a rounded tip, we are required to clamp the tip near the underarm as if using a thermometer,” explained Rizki, on how the screening process uses the i-nose c-19 was done.

Then the system will start to detect the user’s health. After three to five minutes of the detection process, the user will receive a notification message of the test result from a Whatsapp message. “Before the test, we were asked to collect our ID cards and phone numbers for data collection purposes,” added this class of 2019 student.

The result shows that as many as 42 ILITS committee members who were present offline in Surabaya were all declared healthy and Covid-19 negative. Responding to this, Rizki admitted that he was very grateful because all of his colleagues were in good health and the ILITS offline activities were running smoothly. “Being tested with the i-nose c-19 is a cool and exciting new experience. It is also a pride to use a detection tool created by our own nation, “concluded the student from Jogja.
