Good News Students,
Faculty of Architecture, The University of Hongkong are launching their annual Cities in Asia Summer program, "Cities in Asia : Studio SEL-HKG-SIN" International Summer Program in Architecture.
Studio SEL-HKG-SIN is a credit bearing, four-week design and research studio organized annually by the University of Hong Kong (HKU) Faculty of Architecture in multiple cities in Asia. Taught by a diverse group of faculty members from the HKU, ETH Future Cities Lab, and Kangwon National University, and speakers from internationally renowned universities and independent research groups, the course offers participants a design studio experience within Asia’s most vibrant contexts.
This is a fully-accredited HKU course that is focused on the urgent architectural and urban issues confronting Asian cities today. The program was established in 2010, and this year, we will be visiting Seoul, Hong Kong and Singapore. This intensive and well-rounded course exposes students to the cities and topics via a myriad of daily learning activities, including lectures, seminars, studio crits, presentations, reviews, field work. The nature of work ranges from critical reading of texts, individual work to analysis and research collaborations. In addition, students will get to experience the city first hand through field trips, interactions with key stakeholders, and visits to critical practices and design firms. Their collaborators this year include Kangwon National University, ETH Future Cities Lab, and Asian Urban Lab.
