On Friday, 7th August 2015, Architecture Department of ITS held an Open Defence of Doctoral Dissertation with Naser TH. A. Almughrabi Alhasani as the doctor candidate. The Session started at 1 pm until 4 pm.
The session was attended by: Ir. Happy Ratna S., M.Sc, Ph.D as the session chairman;
Prof. Dr. Ir. Josef Prijotomo, M. Arch as the Supervisor;
Ir. Mohammad Faqih, M.S.A, Phd as the Co. Supervisor;
Dr.Eng. Ir. Dipl.Ing Sri Nastiti NE., M.T. and Prof. Ir. Djauhar Manfaat, M.Eng., Ph.D as the examiner from ITS;
Prof. Yandi Andri Yatmo, ST., M.Arch., Ph.D as the examiner from Architecture Universitas Indonesia;
And Prof.Dr. Jale Necdet Erzen from METU Turkey.
The Session was also attended by the Rector of ITS, Prof. Ir. Joni Hermana M.Sc.ES. Ph.D.
After the Open Defence Of Doctoral Dissertation, International Office team had a short interview with Ir. Mohammad Faqih, M.S.A, Phd and the first International Student who graduated in doctoral programme in Architecture department of ITS, Dr. Naser
Ir. Mohammad Faqih, M.S.A, Phd as the Co. Supervisor also gave some statement, Mr. Faqih hope with this Open Defence, the spirit of internationalization is increasingly spread in ITS. Therefor He invite the foreign students and International Office to attend the Defence, in order to this good news can spread out to the puclic. Mr. Faqih also hope this Defence can give positive impacts for ITS students in order to they can open their mind and imitate the spirit and hard-working of Dr. Naser.
According to Mr. Faqih, for this 3 years Dr. Naser is an excellent student. He always hard working and zealous in doing his research. Mr. Faqih said that one day Dr. Naser override his wife’s needs because He too focus on his study. It give impact to the his open defence which held on Friday (07/08) where Mr. Faqih very like his well presentation and research data which very complete. Mr. Faqih assess the defence run well. That thing is proven with the praise which given by the lecturers. But, thing that need to improve in future is Open Defence of Doctoral should made more formal.
Dr. Naser who delivered the dissertation felt nice. “and I very proud of this accomplishment. I really think that I am strongly belong to ITS." he also said.
The title of his dissertation "The Improvement Of Ideal Geometry And Spatial Planning In The Ottoman Mosque : The Role Of Architect Sinan". He said that the reason he choose that topic is because he though that it was important to work on ottoman architecture, and there were a lot of examples available in earth now. So when we do research, It's easy to reach evidences and information.
He said that he was a hard worker, so when we asked about his preparation he said that his preparation was very good and he thought that he had been ready for the exam. He also didn't find any major obstacle in the process. He also had very good relation with his friends, his teachers, his department, and International Office. So, he felt very helped a lot by people around him and very lucky to be in ITS.
After he graduated, he wanted to finalize everything first like getting his certificate. And after that he planned to go back to his country and keep maintaining long term relation with ITS and ITS International office.
He said that he got an amazing feeling when lived in Surabaya. He said that Surabaya was a very green and friendly city. He loves it and he would like to invite his friend to visit Surabaya. He also planned to keep visiting Surabaya someday.
At the and of the Interview once again he thanked to ITS and International Office specially and would never forget the effort done by Dr. Maria and all International Office staff.
With the title of Dr. Naser dissertation "The Improvement Of Ideal Geometry And Spatial Planning In The Ottoman Mosque : The Role Of Architect Sinan", Dr.Naser Dazzled all the lecturer and finally pass with the excellent score. Finally He became the 1st international student who graduated in doctoral programme in Architecture of ITS Department.
