On last Friday (23/10), some of ITS International Students and ITS International Office Volunteers were invited to Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) to attend an event which was held by UNAIR called International Students Performance (ISP) 2015. This event invited all of the International Studentsfrom Java Islandas the participants. They provided some competetions such as Singing Contest, Traditional Games, Poco-poco Dance Contest, Short Essay Contest, Spelling Bee in Bahasa Indonesia Contest, and Best Experience Photo Contest.
This event was started by performing Saman Dance from UNAIR. The dance really attracted the international students attention so there was a lot of them who recorded and took picture of the dance. The event continued by starting the first contest which was singing contest. The participants were given a list of dangdut songs and they had to pick one. Surprisingly, almost all of the singing contest participants brought the song really well and fluent. Even the other participants came to the front stage to dance with the singer. Similar with the singing contest, Poco-poco dance contest also run really well.
For the traditional games, they were split into some little games such as eating Krupuk, entering the nail into a bottle, delivering a marble with a spoon and many more. All of the participants looked really enjoy the games and laughed together most of the time. Then, the spelling bee in Bahasa Indonesia contest was also very fun. Some of participants were struggling to spell and the other were really good at spelling naturally.
The competition was closed by a performance from an acoustic band. Even one of the participant was volunteering herself to sing in front of the others. At the end of the day, the committee announced the winner of the competition. ITS got the 3rd position in Poco-poco Dance Contest which was performed by Mr. Jehad. Even if ITS only got 1 victory, all of the ITS International Students were really glad to join the competition. It’s all about having fun and make a new experience, they said.
