CommTECH Signature is a program providing university and high school students an enriching and rewarding experience for 11 days in Surabaya, Indonesia. Participants will be provided with challenging learning opportunities and various intuitive activities.

Introduction

Continuing the success of 2012 to 2016 Community and Technological Camp (CommTECH), ITS International Office is proud to  introduce a new innovative program CommTECH Signature 2016. CommTECH Signature is specially designed for university and high school students from all around the world with various skills and expertise related to economy and sustainable society development. Here we can learn the applicative knowledge and skills through cross cultural interactions which are needed by individuals to compete and strive. This year’s main topic is about “Enhancing Economic Competitiveness of ASEAN Countries in Globalization Era”. CommTECH Signature will be divided into 3 main events consisting of CommTECH Project, CommTECH Youth Camp and CommTECH Ideas. In this program, ITS will collaborate with Surabaya City Council to provide participants with real life situations to learn from.

CommTECH Project is a program designed based on Project-Based Learning (PbL), a dynamic learning approach which aims to engage the participants in real-life situation. Through the whole program, participants are encouraged to challenge themselves to indulge in projects where they can practice their critical thinking and problem solving skills. The goal of CommTECH Project is to implement cross cultural understanding and education to develop a mutual vision to face and overcome the challenges that AEC and WTO has to offer.

CommTECH Youth Camp is an international level competition and conference camp for high school students from all over the world which is designed to sharpen their communication skills, intuition, and critical thinking. At the end of the program, students are given the opportunity to attend CommTECH Ideas, an international student conference. The best team will also be given the chance to participate in a free international educational excursion for several days.

The final part of CommTECH Signature is CommTECH Ideas. CommTECH Ideas is a 3-day international student conference which invites students and young researchers from all around the world to come and share knowledge and ideas to overcome a common obstacle. In addition to oral and poster presentation, participants can also challenge themselves to present in 3-Minute Ideas (3MI) presentation, which is adapted from the 3-Minute Thesis.
