International Summer University 2018 at Hochschule Darmstadt

Dear ITS Students,

Hochschule Darmstadt Universityof Applied Sciences (Germany) invited ITS students to join "International Summer University 2018 at Hochschule Darmstadt"

the International Summer University (ISU) 2018 at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences on “Energy Efficient and Smart Building Infrastructure Systems” is taking place from July 15 until August 11, 2018. The academic module, which is organized and to be taught by the Professors from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, will focus on the following topics.

• Smart Living in the house of the future
• Options of renewable power generation for family houses
• Influence of renewable energies on the power system
• Climate communication – impact of ‘Energiewende’ on individual behavior
• E-mobility and its interaction with the house

More detailed information on the different topics can be found in the module description which is attached to this email. The module will also contain a one-weekacademic excursion to a ski resort in the alps. Participants will look at how the ski resort deals with the impact of climate change and how it makes use of renewable energies. 

In addition, students will attend a German language class that is organized by the Language Center.

Excursions to different cities in the state of Hessen, such as Frankfurt and Ruedesheim, and other leisure activities, such as hiking, a movie night and an international picnic complement the program.

Our target group are students from all over the world. A background in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Energy Management (Business) or related disciplines is recommended.

Program fee:
€1990 (Special price for ITS students €900)  – including 3-weeks tuition, field trips and excursions, accommodation in shared twin rooms in a hotel, health, accident and liability insurance, and social activities. The selected participants must cover another expenses including airfare ticket and visa.

6. Short Motivation Letter in English. 

The motivation letter should be short but concise and you may refer to following aspects:

• Why are you interested to join the winter course at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences?
• What is your special interest in the subject?
• What added benefit do you expect to get by joining a short-term programme in Germany?
• How does the topic relate to your studies?
• What skills and knowledge do you have to successfully complete the programme?
• How do you prepare yourself for the programme?

However, you must bring the original statement letter (hard copy) in the interview process around 27 April – 3 May 2018.
