Dear ITS students,
The Nordling Lab at the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is seeking five PhD students in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automatic Control. The group is doing potentially lifesaving interdisciplinary research that involves core competence in data science and mathematical modelling of biological and cyber-physical systems. They are currently building smart toys, containing sensors and actuators, that enable them to record longitudinal data on how children interact with the toy and thus study development of the sensorimotor function.
Applications from anyone interested in Deep Learning with a Master in a quantitative STEM field, e.g. Science, Technology, Engineering, Economics, and Mathematics are welcomed. Documented courses on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Automatic Control, System Identification, Signal Processing, Statistics, Stochastic Processes, or Algebra are beneficial. Experience of using a scientific programming language, in particular Python or Matlab, is required, and knowledge of C/C++ is beneficial. A tuition waiver, a scholarship, and part-time employment as a research assistant is provided to cover all living expenses. This is an excellent opportunity to focus on 1-2 topics for 3 to 7-years, learn and practice how to do research, and become an expert, in a friendly and inclusive environment. Upon graduation, you are welcome join the startup the group is planning to fund in 2022.
