Call for Papers: International Conference on Heart of Borneo

Since the inception of the Heart of Borneo (HoB) Initiative, various efforts have been taken to improve the biodiversity within and beyond, through the expansion of totally protected areas, intensification of forest rehabilitation activities and implementation of sustainable forest management.

With the theme of Transcending Boundaries for A New Conservation, this year, organized by Sabah Forestry Department, as how Heart of Borneo (HoB) international conferences always annually go since 2009, it will be focusing on:

1. The enhancement of forest ecosystems connectivity
2. Forest and climate change through decoding and realizing REDD+
3. Green business and development for the environment
4. Sustainability and growth of Sabah’s future together
5. Unleashing HoB’s natural capital for sustainable growth
6. Enhancing biodiversity towards no net loss and beyond
7. Bridging HoB landscapes and beyond through healthy watershed corridors
8. Enabling and empowering conservation through science-policy interface, conservation finance and community engagement
9. A decade of the HoB accomplishments and the way forward

Heart of Borneo international conference aims at looking beyond its traditional boundaries, i.e. borders, forests and sectors to further excel conservation in the State and Heart of Borneo landscape.

Sessions will be held to discuss the following 3 sectors:

• Jurisdictional & Landscape Management
• Science-Based Conservation & Community Outreach
• Institutionalization of Conservation Finance & Payment for Ecosystem Services
