International education and training from the TaiwanICDF share Taiwan’s own development experiences with developing partner countries around the world. Their aim is to help these partner countries cultivate and nurture a talented pool of human resources.
The program enables talented young citizens to come to Taiwan to pursue their higher education and follow course materials and learning objectives that are specifically designed to address key development issues. The program provides full financial support for tuition fee, living expenses, airfare tickets, housing, credit fees, insurance, and book costs, and has grown in scope over the years, now covers 35 courses from 21 universities — 11 bachelor's, 21 master's and 3 Ph.D. programs. These courses focus on the development needs of their partner countries by addressing issues such as tropical agriculture, aquatic sciences, business administration, information technology, human resource development, medicine, and public health, or various fields of engineering.
Eligibility Applicants applying for a TaiwanICDF scholarship must meet both the general eligibility criteria (please refer to appendix 1 of this program’s brochure (click here) and be a national of a country on the List of Countries Eligible for TaiwanICDF Scholarship (please refer to appendix 2). Applicants must also meet the Regulations Governing Visiting, Resident, and Permanent Residency of Aliens set by ROC (Taiwan) National Immigration Agency. ***Please Note: All Undergraduate Programs only accept applications submitted by citizens of allied countries of ROC (Taiwan).
Application Procedure The 2019 TaiwanICDF Scholarship application period will run from January 1 to March 15 (GMT +08:00). For the 2019 TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Program, there are a total of 31 study programs available for the scholarship application.
Applicants should: (1) complete the TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Program Online Application (click here), and (2) submit the documents listed below to the ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/Consulate General/Representative Office in their country. Applicants must ensure that they submit accurate and complete documentation; failure to do so will result in the application not being processed.
Please also note: (1) Late submissions will not be accepted and/or processed; (2) All Undergraduate Programs only accept applications submitted by citizens of allied countries of ROC (Taiwan).
Documents to be submitted: (1) A photocopy of applicant’s passport or other document showing proof of nationality. (2) A photocopy of applicant’s highest-level diploma and academic transcripts. (3) A photocopy of applicant’s English proficiency certificate. ***Please note: This means a TOEFL test score or that of another recognized English proficiency exam, or documents certifying that the applicant has graduated from a program where all courses were taught in English. Applicants who are unable to provide such proof of English proficiency due to special circumstances may be assessed for English proficiency by ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/Consulate (General)/Representative Office via interview or other forms of testing. Applicants whose official national language is English are TaiwanICDF Scholarship Application Instructions exempt from needing to supply these documents. (4) Two letters of reference. (5) Any other documents specifically requested by ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/ Consulate (General)/ Representative Office. ***Please Note: In addition to the above documents requested as part of their scholarship application, applicants should also submit all documents required by the TaiwanICDF partner university that they are applying to before the admission deadline of that university.
