After going through the World Class University (WCU) Workshop session 1 on June 25, 2020 and session 2 on June 29, 2020, the WCU Workshop has reached its third session. The WCU workshop which took place on July 6, 2020 with the topic ‘KPI Mapping and QS Ranking Breakthrough Strategies’. In a meeting held virtually via zoom meeting, Assoc. Prof. Maria Anityasari, Ph. D. as Director of ITS Global Engagement, specifically mapped the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and presented strategies to improve ITS rankings in the QS Ranking. Before starting the presentation, he first tested the workshop participants’ understanding of the topics that had been delivered in the previous session of the WCU Workshop through the Kahoot Quiz.
Maria Anityasari also started the presentation by showing ITS rankings in the QS World University Ranking (WUR) from 2017 to 2021. She again used the Kahoot Quiz to test the workshop participants’ understanding of the QS WUR ranking. Maria Anityasari also began to explain the ranking criteria of QS WUR starting from the criteria for academic reputation and employer reputation. She did not forget to include several breakthrough strategies which she considered able to increase the value of ITS in the criteria for academic reputation and employer reputation. Maria Anityasari emphasized that good planning is very important so that the strategy can be implemented properly. “Ranking cannot be (achieved) by accident, the ranking must be (achieved) by design, by planning”, she said firmly.
Maria Anityasari continued the presentation by showing the KPI mapping of faculties, departments, and laboratories based on the QS WUR ranking criteria. According to her, there are still some deficiencies in KPI from faculties, departments, and laboratories. For example, there are already KPIs that are directly related to the QS WUR criteria, but they are less strong and less balanced. To end the presentation, Maria Anityasari presented several breakthrough strategies. One of the strategies he conveyed was to hold a WCU Workshop to increase the understanding of the ITS academic community regarding the world university ranking. Moreover, there is a Global Learning Program (GLP) and Guest Lecture Series (GLS) which can pave the way for ITS to collaborate with universities abroad.
The 3rd session of the WCU workshop was then continued with a question and answer session which was followed enthusiastically by the workshop participants. Finally, the workshop was closed with a photo session with all workshop participants.
