Dear ITS students,
Kansai University IIGE (Institute for Innovative Global Education) in conjunction with UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific) offered the first collaborative joint honors program which brought together 16 domestic and international students from 6 countries to experience a combined online and mobility program aboard the Peace Boat in the summer of 2019.
While we continue to wait for international borders to open safely, IIGE is committed to exploring the potential of new and innovative solutions to provide these experiences to Kansai University and our partner institutions’ students. This summer, we are pleased to continue their collaboration with UMAP, and will be offering the UMAP-COIL Joint Program in summer 2021 fully online.
About UMAP-Joint Program
UMAP-COIL Joint Program 2021 program is designed to give students opportunities to consider global citizenship with regard to key contemporary social issues in international settings, taking international and domestic perspectives. Students will examine a range of broad themes relating to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including topics on foreign policy, international affairs, trade and finance, and defense and security. In addition, we will explore more specific areas of contemporary interest, for example, aspects of health and wellbeing, international approaches to education, and business innovation and development. The course is designed to be responsive to topical and immediate global concerns and will draw upon themes and materials as they develop.
Over 100 students from around the world are anticipated to participate in this program. Students from Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand can request applications and apply through the National Secretariats in those countries. Students from other UMAP countries can request applications and apply through the International Secretariat. Please refer to this page for more program information and to confirm the relevant contact information for your country. Students should submit their applications no later than July 1, 2021 and participating National Secretariats will need to forward their student applications to IIGE/Kansai University by July 5.
