University of Washington in Seattle as a Host University in U.S is calling for candidate “Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders on Education and the Future of Work for Summer 2022″.

What is SUSI?

Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSIs) for Student Leaders are intensive short-term academic programs whose purpose is to provide groups of undergraduate student leaders with a deeper understanding of the United States while simultaneously enhancing their leadership skills.  Each Institute has 20 participants. The Institutes consist of a four-week academic residency with a balanced series of seminar discussions, readings, group presentations, and lectures.

When the program will be held?

The expected time for this program is around June/July in Summer 2022.

What will we get from SUSI?

The Study of the U.S. Institute on Education and the Future of Work will explore how advances in technologies, examine the role of U.S. educational institutions and provide opportunities for participants to engage with educational and industry leaders, policy makers, trade associations, and other key actors.

Academic sessions will be complemented with hands-on sessions or workshops designed to build skills in the topics mentioned above. The Institute will encourage participants to develop innovative and practical plans to become engaged citizens in their own communities. Should conditions allow, the SUSIs for Global Student Leaders will begin with an Opening Forum in Washington, D.C., offering opportunities for networking, foundational leadership skills development, and exploring relevant topics from multi-regional perspectives.

What is the requirements for the participants?

  1. Be proficient in English;
  2. Be interested in the topics of education and the future of work;
  3. Be between 18 and 25 years of age;
  4. Have at least one semester left of their undergraduate studies, and be committed to returning to their home universities following completion of the program;
  5. Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential in their university and community activities;
  6. Indicate a serious interest in learning about the United States;
  7. Have a sustained high level of academic achievement, as indicated by grades, awards, and teacher recommendations;
  8. Demonstrate commitment to community and extracurricular university activities;
  9. Have little or no prior study or travel experience in the United States or elsewhere outside of their home country;
  10. Be mature, responsible, independent, confident, open-minded, tolerant, thoughtful, and inquisitive;
  11. Be willing and able to fully participate in an intensive academic program, community service, and educational travel;
  12. If the program is conducted in-person, be comfortable with campus life, prepared to share living accommodations, and able to adjust to cultural and social practices different from those of their home country
