On 4 – 9 July 2022, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) was elected to be an implementing partner for ten female senior high school students the residential-based Science Camp (WiSci): Southeast Asia, which is a STEAM Camp for teen girls allowing access to education, mentorship, and leadership training. WiSci Camps is a public-private partnership between the US Department of State, UN’s Foundation Girl Up, and Intel. WiSci Southeast Asia was the very first hybrid camp experience. This year, ITS American Corner becomes the home of 10 campers and 2 counselors from the Surabaya area.

WiSci Camp 2022 is participated by seventy (70) campers and thirteen (13) counselors from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. During the camp, participants learned leadership skills with their counselors, learned STEAM topics via sessions with private sector partners, and conduct a project preparation in STEM and SDGs with their cohorts. They also get acknowledged with prominent figures of women in sciences through women panel discussions including representatives from the US Embassy in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Intel trainers.
