Today’s great challenges – climate change, conflict, widening inequalities, socio-economic and geopolitical changes – intensify, while the confluence of social, technological, political and economic megatrends generates unprecedented complexity, uncertainty and disruption.
Youths are keen observers of the world around them.
They are curious. They crave new experiences. They are unafraid to raise critical issues that are weighing on their minds.
Above all, they desire to champion a cause that’s larger than themselves.
But many youths feel alone in their humanitarian pursuits. They fear that they are too poor, young or inexperienced to change the world.
The annual University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS) shows youths that they can. Delegates will meet hundreds of like-minded peers who want to build a peaceful, inclusive and sustainable world.
They will spend a week networking, helping needy communities, and hearing from movers and shakers of the humanitarian world.
We face an expanding list of bigger, more critical decisions and equally critical opportunities demanding our attention. The consequences of action, or inaction, are greater than ever.
It is with this in mind that Humanitarian Affairs Asia is hosting our next edition of the 12th University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS) at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 6 to 9, 2024.
The USLS serves as a distinctive platform for emerging leaders to delve into global issues, hone leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to a peaceful world where equality and basic rights are protected. We believe that the essence of this symposium aligns seamlessly with your college’s vision, aiming to empower students to evolve into compassionate leaders capable of making a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
