A Semester Exchange at Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT) South Korea Spring 2025

Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT)  would like to inform you that the registration for semester exchange application for Spring semester 2025 (Intake February 28, 2025 – June 20 , 2025) is open.  The tuition fee for this program is waived. However the accepted students are responsible for their learning materials, dorms, independent quarantine, visa fees and living expenses in Korea including Roundtrip Flight Ticket & Insurance.

This program is open for ITS students Bachelor level (D4/S1) batch  2022, 2023.

Exchange students usually take 3 to 6 courses per semester based on 3 credits per course, including Korean language classes.

Exchange students will be also offered the chance to participate in various extracurricular activities such as industrial tours and cultural experiences.

Available Fields of Study for Student Exchange Program.
1) Dept of Electronic Communication Engineering, School of Electronic Engineering
2) Dept of Electronics and IT Convergence, School of Electronic Engineering
3) School of Industrial Engineering
4) Business Administration
• Student whose major is not one of above department also can apply for KIT exchange program. However, they might not be able to take major courses for the credit transfer, only selective courses will be available.

Visa requirements

Students need to obtain the D-2 Visa with the admission and invitation letter which will be issued by KIT.

Alien Registration

All students who stay in Korea for more than 90 days must apply for the alien registration card within 90 days of entry. It usually takes 3-4 weeks for the card to be issued.

Insurance requirements

We request Health Insurance for exchanges students during staying in Korea. Students can purchase health insurance from their home countries, or they can purchase it through International Office at KIT.

Health Check-up
  • All students have been requested to submit the health and medical clearance form with their online applications as part of the required documents.
  • According to government regulation, students from certain designated countries will need to get re-tested for tuberculosis at the district public health center in Korea upon arrival.

Meals and Food

Students can buy various types of meals on and off-campus, and also cook some instant snacks in the shared KITchen of the dormitory. Students usually use the KITchen to cook noodles, toast, and small snacks or to keep their own food in the communal refrigerator. Normal meal prices range from 3,500 won to 5,000 won (approx. US$ 3~5) per meal.

Opening a bank account

If students would like to open a bank account in Korea, they will need to bring a Alien card and a passport.

Voluntary Activity
  • One foreign student and one Korean student make a team
  • Foreign student is to prepare lecture regarding one’s own country’s culture, language and any possible stories of home country to school kids (elementary school, middle schools or high schools located in Gumi and Gyeongbuk).
  • Lecture can be lasting 60 mins to 90 mins. One time for a month.
  • Each student will get paid some amount of allowance as a reward.
  • Student will receive a certificate of volunteer by the end of semester.
  • If you are interested in this activity, it is highly recommended to bring traditional costumes or cultural stuff of your home country. It’s quite competitive to get this voluntary activity opportunity. But don’t forget that chance favors only the prepared mind. Part Time Job Opportunity

KIT offer part time job opportunity for international students

  • Working Place : KIT English Café (located in 1st floor of library)
    – To encourage KIT student to speak English
    – To welcome visitor and to help their English study
    – Cleaning the room
  • Eligibility : fluent English speaker, active and outgoing personality
  • How to apply : work plan (no template, 1 page of A4-sized paper), interview required.

Here are the required documents that you need to prepare:

  1. Application form for Exchange Student
  2. KIT_Personal Information Collection and Usage Agreement
  3. Latest academic transcript in english version
  4. Scanned of ID Students
  5. Certificate of Enrollment in English
  6. Scanned Passport with validity minimum one year from February 2025
  7. English Proficiency Test Score. TOEFL/EFL (min 477) or you can use IELTS/IBT. You can use TOEFL Prediction. However, screenshoot from web UPT Bahasa is not acceptable.
  8. Statement Letter & Learning Agreement. You may give the approval communication from your Head of Dept for replacement of statement letter. Please download the file at http://bit.ly/its-student-exchange  
  9. Valid Korean Proficiency Test Score (if any)
  10. Certificate of GCW Non Degree (minimum C) or Result Test GCW Non Degree min 80 (please kindly note that this documents is required for this program) 
  11. Scanned of Parents letter support (the letter must signed by your parents and the letter must mention about the awareness of your parents about this program. Please also mention that your parents support you for the financial and other things if you are accepted in this program)

The incomplete application will not proceed by Mobility TeamITS Students must consult with your parents for the financial aspects and please kindly provide the statement letter from your parents (in Bahasa) that your parents are support you (all financial & mental) to join this program. You need to submit it during interview process

If you have finished and submitted your Study Abroad Application form, YOU HAVE TO SEND email to studyabroad@its.ac.id confirming that you have filled out the Study Abroad Application Form and submit it. Please use this subject: “Confirmation Study Abroad Application_KIT_NAME_NRP”. The submission deadline extended until 16 October 2024 ( 09.00 WIB). The Interview Session will be held on 18 October 2024 (14.00).
