Dear ITS Students,
NOW OPEN Call for Scholarship Application: DAAD University Summer Course 2025
The DAAD is a joint organization of German institutions of higher education. Our aim is to promote academic co-operation world-wide, especially through the exchange of students, scholars, academics, and scientists. With a constant increase over the past years of Indonesians studying in Germany, Indonesia is one of the target countries in a joint initiative to attract highly qualified international students and high-calibre researchers. Also universities from both countries show an ever stronger interest in building and extending mutual collaboration. The DAAD has been supporting academic exchange between Germany and Indonesia for decades, providing long-term fellowships as well as short-term research grants, supporting guest professorships and helping to establish university collaborations.
Program Objective: This program aims to deepen the knowledge of the German language and culture
Funding: Funding is provided for participation in language and cultural courses as well as specialized language courses offered by German universities (and language course providers affiliated with the universities).
Courses: Course providers and course offerings can be found on the DAAD website at: www.daad.de/hsk-kursliste. The courses are held exclusively in German. Courses that can be attended with a DAAD University Summer Course Scholarship are marked with “Scholarships”. Courses without this mark cannot be chosen. In the application form, applicants are asked to provide three course preferences. Please fill in all fields and indicate different course locations. The final placement of the applicants will be made by the DAAD. The course preferences will be considered wherever possible. IMPORTANT: The capacities of the course providers are limited. Therefore, the DAAD reserves the right to assign applicants to a course other than the one they have requested. • Once your application has been received, it is no longer possible to change your course preferences or to change courses.
Duration of funding: • The courses have a duration of at least 18 teaching days (usually 5 days/week) with at least 25 teaching hours per week. Thus, including arrival and departure, the courses are at least about 4 weeks long. • The scholarships cannot be extended. • Courses are usually held during the months of June through September
Scholarship benefits • One-time scholarship payment for course fees, accommodation and meals in the amount of 1,134 EUR (for Indonesia). • Country-specific travel allowance for arrival and departure, see overview of travel allowances • Health, accident and personal liability insurance
The scholarship benefits (including travel allowance) are not transferred abroad but are paid by the DAAD to the course provider. This means: All travel expenses must initially be paid by the participants themselves. After arrival in Germany, the travel allowance will be paid by the course provider. The scholarship is paid directly by the DAAD to the course provider. The course provider deducts the course fees and, if applicable, the costs for accommodation. If there is anything left over from the scholarship, the difference will be paid to the participant.
IMPORTANT: 1. there are courses that also provide accommodation. There are also courses that do not offer accommodation – in this case participants have to look for accommodation themselves (which can be difficult). 2. there are courses that are more expensive than the scholarship rate of 1.134.- Euro. The additional costs have to be paid by the participants themselves. 3. please remember that you will also have expenses for meals.
Language Skills Requirement: • Minimum requirement for applications from Indonesia is B1. German language skills at level B1 must be proven at the time of application. • Language skills can be proven by the following certificates: onSET-German, TestDaF, Goethe Institute certificate, DSD, DSH, telc German, ÖSD certificate. • In addition, the DAAD Language Certificate German, approved by DAAD Lektors, can be accepted. • The language certificate must not be older than one year at the time of application (also applies to DSH). Language certificates from B2 or TDN4 in all examination modules may be older than one year.
