Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is proud to announce the official opening of the Study in Japan ASEAN Regional Office, a key initiative under the Global Network Project to Promote Study in Japan. The event was held at the Global Kampong Lounge on the ITS campus in Surabaya, Indonesia.
The opening ceremony, which took place from 13.30 to 14.30 WIB, was attended by distinguished delegates from Kumamoto University and Okayama University, alongside representatives from the Study in Japan ASEAN Regional Office. This office aims to strengthen academic ties between Japan and ASEAN countries by providing support for students and scholars interested in pursuing education and research in Japan.
Opening Remarks were delivered by Associate Professor Bambang Pramujati, Rector of ITS, who expressed gratitude for the presence of key partners, including Professor Mitsuyo Kishida, Vice President for Global Education at Kumamoto University, and Professor Dr. Isao Kadota from Okayama University. “Since its establishment in 2010, the Study in Japan Office has played an important role as a key point of contact, connecting ITS with partner universities in Indonesia and ASEAN,” he said.
Remarks from Partners: Professor Mitsuyo Kishida (Kumamoto University) and Professor Dr. Isao Kadota (Okayama University) emphasized the importance of partnerships between ITS and Japanese institutions in promoting global education and research collaboration.
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony: The event culminated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by Professor Kishida, Associate Professor Pramujati, and Professor Kadota, symbolizing the launch of the ASEAN Regional Office.
The newly established ASEAN Regional Office will serve as a central hub for various activities that promote studying in Japan, including student exchanges, internships, scholarships, and joint research programs. Notable highlights include the annual ICAST Conference, the JSPS Ronpaku Program, and joint supervision and publications with Japanese partner universities.
Additionally, the office will support the MEXT Scholarship program, which provides opportunities for postgraduate studies in Japan, and further strengthen collaboration through the SIXERs Partnership, a network that connects ITS with six leading Japanese universities.
“We are excited about the future of this office, which will continue to provide a strong foundation for collaboration and opportunity between ITS and Japan,” said Prof. Pramujati.
