Tohoku University Japan would like to inform you that the registration for Student Exchange Program application for Fall Semester (Intake September 2025 – February 2026) is open. The tuition fee for this program is waived. However the accepted students are responsible for their learning materials, dorms and living expenses in Japan including Roundtrip Flight Ticket, Visa & Travel Insurance.

For the Fall Semester 2025 Tohoku University offer Cooperative Laboratory Study Program (COLABS) for postgraduate program. This program open for ITS Students S2 & S3 all batch https://www.insc.tohoku.ac.jp/english/exchange/colabs/

– COLABS Prior Consent

COLABS applicants are required to obtain prior consent from their prospective academic advisor before the application.  Please find the link for the consent request here.

The deadline for the COLABS prior consent application is [February 6, 2025 at 23:59 (JST)], please be advised that you cannot access the application system for the COLABS prior consent after the deadline.

Note:

  • It is NOT allowed that COLABS applicants contact their prospective Tohoku University’s academic advisor directly without going through the Student Exchange Division to avoid any possible confusion.
  • Note that submitting the form does not automatically send your request directly to the professor; exchange coordinators will review the content of the form once and then send the request to the professor. Please understand that this may take some time.
  • It will take the professors up to 10 business days to review your documents and get back to you.
    We strongly recommend that COLABS applicants give the prospective academic advisors as much advance notice as possible
    so that there is enough time to complete the online application (TAO) by the deadline.
  • No immediate responses can be expected especially for last-minute requests.
  • COLABS applicants are only allowed to contact ONE prospective academic advisor at a time. (Q6)
  • The deadline to submit the COLABS Consent of Acceptance Request Form is two weeks before the deadline for TAO.
  • the later applicants apply, the more likely it is that the laboratory of their choice will already be accepting other students and will not be able to accept you due to full
    capacity. We strongly recommend that applicants apply as early as possible.

Here the requirement for this program

1.  CV

2. One Page Study Plan (A4, TNR 3,3,3,3). Please mentioned your name and your interested dept in  Tohoku Univ in your first paragraph

3. Certificate of Enrollment

4. Photocopy of the applicant’s passport information page (at least valid until one year)

5. Learning agreement. Applicants must submit two types of learning agreement, which are as follows :

Learning Agreement ITS version (please download from here http://bit.ly/its-student-exchange )

The document must be signed by the applicant and the advisor/Head of applicant’s department

You may left it blank in institutional coordinator

6. Valid English proficiency test certificate (original). Applicant may use TOEFL/IELTS/IBT/EFL/TEFL  The minimum score must equal with TOEFL 550 or equal to CEFR B2. (score screenshoot from web UPT Bahasa is not acceptable,  test prediction is not acceptable as well )

7. 1 (one) recommendation letter from an academic advisor

8. Statement letter (statement letter can be downloaded from this link  http://bit.ly/its-student-exchange  )

9. Certificate of GCW Non Degree (minimum C) or Result Test GCW Non Degree min 80 (please kindly note that this documents is required for this program) 

10. Scanned of Parents letter support (the letter must signed by your parents and the letter must mention about the awareness of your parents about this program. Please also mention that your parents support you for the financial and other things if you are accepted in this program)

11. Proof of Consent Request approval from the professor.

The incomplete application will not processed by Mobility Team.

For ITS Students who interested to join this program please kindly submit your application through this form https://its.id/studyabroadITS . All of your documents must be in PDF and collected in 1 (one) .zip/.rar file. If you have finished and submitted your Study Abroad Application form, YOU HAVE TO SEND email to studyabroad@its.ac.id confirming that you have filled out the Study Abroad Application Form and submit it. Please use this subject: “Confirmation Study Abroad Application_TohokuJYPE/IPLA/COLABS_NAME_NRP”. The submission deadline extended until 12 February 2025 ( 09.00 WIB). The Interview Session will be held on 14 February 2025 (13.30).
