CommTECH Highlight 2016 has officially started today! The participants were welcomed by a traditional dance performance from UKTK ITS before continuing on to the opening ceremony in the rectorate building. There was a speech from ITS rector, Prof. Ir. Joni Hermana, followed by presentations from several departments and research & postgraduate programs, and an introduction to the organizing committee by a surprise flash mob inside the rectorate main conference room.
After a lunch break in the adjoined dining room, the next agenda was a campus tour to Chemistry dept. laboratories, national car research center, central ITS library, and Spectronics team from Chemical Engineering dept. In each destination they learned about the focus of the unit. For example, they learned how to process waste coconut water into marketable nata de coco in Chemistry dept. laboratories, chemical cars with the Spectronics team, and ITS' progress in creating electric car in national electric car research center.
Our last agenda today was a welcoming dinner in ITS rector's official residence. The dinner was accompanied by a performance from ITS IO volunteers, followed by a surprise performance from Prof. Ir. Joni Hermana. Dinner was followed by performances from the participants. There were traditional songs from a few countries, pop songs, and dances performed during this session. There was a very remarkable Tor Tor dance performance by a team of participants, which excited everyone at the venue.The festive dinner concluded today's agenda.
