ITS INCREASED ITS RANK IN WEBOMETRICS 2012

 Sepuluh Nopember  Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya make a big leap to be in fourth place in Indonesia in the period January 2012 Webometrics ranking. In addition,  ITS  is ranked 26th in Southeast Asia and 898th in worldwide.

The original aim of the Ranking was to promote Web publication. Supporting Open Access initiatives, electronic access to scientific publications and to other academic material are our primary targets. However web indicators are very useful for ranking purposes too as they are not based on number of visits or page design but on the global performance and visibility of the universities. In one year, Webometrics publish the university ranking twice, in January and July.

Four indicators were obtained from the quantitative results provided by the main search engines. Size (S) worth (10%), visibility worth 50%, Rich Files worth 10%, Scholar worth 30%. Below is Indonesian University which has the highest rank of webometrics:

   2. Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB)
   3. Universitas of Indonesia (UI)
   4. Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS)
   5. Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB)
   6. Indonesia Education University (UPI) Bandung
   7. University of Sebelas Maret (UNS) Solo
   8. Gunadarma University (Gundar)
   9. Diponegoro University (Undip) Semarang
   10. University of Sriwijaya (Unsri) Palembang
