COVID-19 outbreak has a huge influence in many aspects of life, including economic sector. We can observe that many countries are struggling during this hard time. Therefore, it is important for students to raise awareness and start dealing with these changes as well as taking an active role to provide solution. CommTECH Competition 2020 is expected to be a platform to express creativity and a tool to connect students all over the world to jointly innovate solutions to the COVID-19 affected situations. With this competition, students are expected to pioneering innovations in the field of technology to solve problems and influencing their communities about good life during this pandemic.

This year, we will have 2 competition categories which are:

1. CommTECH Ideas Competition 2020

A creative idea competition that brings technology to solve or overcome Covid-19 affected situations in developing countries. The theme for this competition is “Applied Technology Innovation to Ease Pandemic Affected Situations”.

Participants are asked to submit a poster containing their idea/innovation.

2. CommTECH Short Movie Competition 2020

Short movie competition (duration of 3-5 minutes) with the theme: “We Share We Care: Resilience against Covid-19”. Movie must be made in English or having English sub-title. Participants must choose one of the following sub-themes:

1. Campaign of economic/social resilience amidst Covid-19 outbreak
2. Daily life tips during the new normal

The timeline of the competition is:
(1) Submission Deadline: 16 October 2020 (04.00 PM, GMT +7)
(2) Selection Process for the First Round: 17-22 October 2020
(3) Finalist Announcement: 23 or 24 October 2020
(4) Poster/Video Campaign through ITS Global Engagement Instagram/Youtube: 25 October – 2 November 2020
(5) Final Round: 6 November 2020
(6) Winner Announcement: 10 November 2020 (live streaming via ITS Youtube)

General requirements of participants:

1. Currently studying as an undergraduate or postgraduate, proven by student card.
2. Non-Indonesian citizenship, proven by passport or national identity card.
3. Participants can only join one category of competition in CommTECH Competition 2020
4. Participant must fill the registration form (download here) and send us an email with the form attached to commtech@its.ac.id. Please refer to the Competition’s Rules for the specific subject.
5. International student that is currently studying at ITS is not allowed to join CommTECH Competition 2020.

Specific Requirements:

(1) CommTECH IDEAS Competition

1. Participants are required to fill in the registration form (refer to point B, number 4) and submit their poster with a brief explanation of their ideas in PDF format via direct download link (Google Drive/Wetransfer) to commtech@its.ac.id with the following subject: [Name]_CommTECH IDEAS Competition_[Title of Ideas]
2. Participants only need to make one poster in A3 size (maximum 2 sheets)
3. The file size of the poster submitted should not be larger than 3 MB.
4. Participants must include ITS logo and ITS Global Engagement website address information on the poster.
5. 10 participants will be selected to be in the final round. The poster will be uploaded to ITS Global Engagement Instagram account along with a presentation from the participant and Q&A session with the judges via ZOOM connected to a live streaming on ITS Global Engagement Youtube channel.
6. The language used in the poster is English.
7. Copyright of the poster submitted will be relinquished to the organizer.

(2)  CommTECH Short Movie Competition

1. Participants are required to fill in the registration form (refer to point B, number 4) and submit their video via direct download link (Google Drive/Wetransfer) to commtech@its.ac.id with the following subject: [Name]_CommTECH Short Movie Competition_[Title of Short Movie]
2. All videos will be uploaded to ITS Global Engagement Youtube channel. Only those that match the theme will be uploaded.
3. The minimum length of the video submitted is 3 minutes and the total length of the video should not be longer than 5 minutes.
4. The video must be in English or have English sub-title.
5. Participants must include ITS logo and ITS & ITS Global Engagement website address information in the opening or ending of video.
6. Copyright of the short movie submitted will be relinquished to the organizer.

(1)    CommTECH IDEAS Competition

1. 1^st place is eligible for USD400, e-certificate, and an opportunity to join Online CommTECH with free program fee.
2. 2^nd place is eligible for USD300, e-certificate, and an opportunity to join online CommTECH with free program fee.
3. 3^rd place is eligible for USD200, e-certificate, and an opportunity to join online CommTECH with free program fee.
4. Favourite winner is eligible for USD150, e-certificate, and an opportunity to join online CommTECH with free program fee.
5. All participants are eligible for e-certificate and an opportunity to join online CommTECH with free program fee.

(2)    CommTECH Short Movie Competition

1. 1^st place is eligible for USD300, e-certificate, and an opportunity to join Online CommTECH with free program fee.
2. 2^nd place is eligible for USD200, e-certificate, and an opportunity to join online CommTECH with free program fee.
3. 3^rd place is eligible for USD150, e-certificate, and an opportunity to join online CommTECH with free program fee.
4. Favourite winner is eligible for USD100, e-certificate, and an opportunity to join online CommTECH with free program fee.
5. All participants are eligible for e-certificate and an opportunity to join online CommTECH with free program fee.
