EAST JAVA EXPLORATION (EJX)

Program Overview

How much do you know about Indonesia? Have you been to East Java? Join us exploring four regions of Java’s eastern province – Surabaya, the capital city of the province; Madura, popularly known as the Salt Island; Jember, the tobacco city; and Malang, the city with mildest climate in the region. Experience and learn a glimpse of Indonesia’s diversity: religion, culture, history, technology, and natural resources, through a two-week education safari hosted by ten major public universities in the province.

East Java Exploration (EJx) is designed as a general course with a multidisciplinary approach for participants to explore East Java by addressing several goals of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the area of economics, social and environmental issues such as education, poverty, gender equality, climate change, water conservation, sustainable cities and communities. Participants will obtain a deeper understanding of East Java through cultural tours, a series of lectures, discussions, and face-to-face interactions with individuals from all backgrounds. They will also build friendships and network for the future.
