To strengthen defense technology mastery, the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), through its Research Center for Internet of Things and Defense Technology (IoTTP), collaborates with the Research and Development Agency of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (Balitbang Kemhan) to develop technological innovations to support Indonesian defense based on National Research Priorities (PRN) 2020–2024. The advancement of this technology aims to support defense in three areas at the same time, namely land, sea, and air. This FGD activity was held on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
The discussion session on cooperation between the two agencies received a direct welcome from the Head of the Research and Development Center (Kapuslitbang), Alpalhan Balitbang Kemhan, Rear Admiral TNI Danto Yuliardi Wirawan, ST, MT. Furthermore, the Head of the Air Force of the Center for Research and Development, Alpalhan Balitbang, of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Tech BRP Sianturi, also explained and provided input and suggestions regarding the focus of research on strengthening technology innovation in this collaboration.
On the same occasion, Dr. Eng. Dhany Arifianto S.T., M.Eng, Head of the IoTTP Research Center, gave his opening speech. In his speech, this ITS lecturer revealed three focuses on strengthening supporting technology, namely strengthening mobility, combat power, and technology supporting defense and security. “Propulsion technology such as unmanned aircraft, strike power technology such as rocket technology, and defense technology such as radar,” he explained.
In the Focus Group Discussion (FGD), which was attended by the Defense Facilities Agency (Baranahan), Defense Equipment Research and Development (Alpalhan), the College of Naval Technology (STTAL), and the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) ITS, several innovative works were also displayed. Innovations such as i-Car, i-Boat, Fin Komodo, i-Nose, and Istow, as well as defense products such as ANIDS Cyber Security, UAV Forensic, Crocodile Hydrofoil, Frangible Bullet, and SWATH Boat Flying.
Finally, Dhany hopes that this cooperation opportunity can become a key technology for the next national program, such as the development of innovations in fighter aircraft, radar, propellant, rockets, and others.
