On Monday, November 18, 2024, the first International Conference on Science, Nano and Healthcare Technologies (ICOSNHT) was held. This seminar was held in the auditorium room on the 11th floor of the Research Center Building, ITS Surabaya campus. The seminar was organized by a collaboration of 3 research centers (Puslit) in the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) and the Faculty of Medicine and Health (FKK). The three Puslit are the Internet of Things and Defense Technology Research Center (IoTTP), the Fundamental Science Research Center (SF) and the Material and Nanotechnology Research Center.
This international seminar aims to build knowledge and insight for participants about the application of Fundamental Science, Material-Nanotechnology and IoT in Health applications. In addition, this activity also aims to increase understanding of technology development trends in the fields of medicine and health. In parallel, collaboration between academics, researchers, industry, and government in the scientific field was also increased. The topics taken covered 8 fields, namely medical physics, sensors for medical healthcare, bioengineering & biomaterials, medical imaging, Internet of medical things, assistive technology, artificial intelligent (AI) in healthcare and nanomaterials & nanotechnology in healthcare.
The three keynote speakers at this activity were Prof. Uda Hashim from the University of Malaysia Sabah (UMS), and Prof. Nico Prof. Nico Verdonschot who is the Scientific Director of The Technical Medical Center (techMed Center) of the University of Twente, the Netherlands. While the 3rd speaker was Prof. Ratna Ediati from the Puslit Sain Fundamental DRPM ITS. Prof. Uda presented about biosensors for handling Covid-19, while Prof. Nico presented about Innovation in Total Knee Replacement. Slightly different from the topics of the two previous professors, Prof. Ratna discussed the use of Metal Organic Framework (MOF) to overcome pharmaceutical waste. The articles presented in the first ICOSNHT seminar were 39 papers. Also present were around 47 students and ITS academicians as participants.
Dr. Ir. Adhi Dharma Wibawa, S.T., M.T as the vice dean of FKK expressed his gratitude for the invitation to collaborate with the DRPM research center in implementing this seminar. This is a very significant step forward, especially for FKK, which is a new faculty at ITS. The Director of DRPM, Fadhilatul Taufany, PhD, also expressed his gratitude for the willingness of FKK to collaborate with the research centers at DRPM, especially for the application of the scientific field of the research center in health applications. Hopefully, the international conference activities will bring broad benefits and similar activities can take place in the following year.
