Prof. Ir Gamantyo Hendrantoro M.Eng., Ph.D, professor from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTEIC) ITS was officially elected Chair. IEEE itself is an international organization whose members are engineers, industry players, and students with the aim of developing technology to increase human dignity.

In accordance with the motto of advancing technology for humanity, the IEEE Indonesia Section has the task of carrying out the goals of using technology in Indonesia for the community. Among them are innovating, encouraging science and technology in areas that are the focus of the IEEE, and using it for humanity, health and education. It also encourages students to network, both between central IEEE administrators and members. Some of the work programs owned by IEEE include international conferences held by universities in Indonesia. Papers in the conference can be published in other programs, namely IEEE Explore.

Prof. Ir. Gamantyo has a reason to be chairman because he views being chairman means he has been given the trust by members of IEEE Indonesia. IEEE is considered to have a very crucial role because many parties fill it in, such as academics, researchers, entrepreneurs, and coordinate with the government. Where it is hoped that there will be a synergistic and harmonious relationship between the four elements.

After officially becoming the chairman, Prof. Ir. Garmantyo will continue the program that has been prepared by the previous chairman. With the vision and mission that he brought himself during the management, the IEEE activities were evenly distributed throughout Indonesia. Gamantyo said that this was due to the fact that many members of the IEEE Indonesia Section who came from outside Java Island still experienced limited access to information and could not experience the maximum benefits as members.
