APTIKOM Visit to DTI ITS: Real Steps to Improve Education Quality

Surabaya, IT Journalistic – On Friday, February 7, 2025, the Association of Higher Education in Informatics and Computer Science (APTIKOM) of East Java made an official visit to the Department of Information Technology (DTI) at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). This meeting, held at Tower 2 ITS, aimed to present APTIKOM’s one-year work program and discuss various strategic initiatives in research, publication, and lecturer competency development.

The visit was attended by Yoyon Arie Budi Suprio, S.T., M.Kom., Chairman of APTIKOM East Java, along with two other representatives: Yusrida Muflihah, S.Kom., M.Kom., from the Cooperation Division, and Dr. I Gede Susrama Mas Diyasa, S.T., M.T., IPU, from the Institutional Division.

APTIKOM East Java Chairman, Yoyon Arie Budi Suprio explained that this meeting was an effort to align APTIKOM’s and ITS’s work programs to ensure smooth implementation and broader benefits. “APTIKOM has its own work program, as does ITS. These programs can be synchronized to ensure effective execution, ultimately bringing benefits for many parties,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Dr.techn. Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc., Head of the ITS Information Technology Department, emphasized that this collaboration was driven by a commitment to creating greater benefits beyond ITS, extending to other universities across East Java. “We hope this collaboration can bring broader benefits, not only for ITS but also for the wider community, especially for lecturers and universities under APTIKOM,” he said.

During the meeting, several key topics were discussed, including enhancing the research publication index as part of efforts to improve academic quality in East Java. Additionally, discussions covered lecturer competency development, particularly in further studies and academic skills improvement, as well as plans for monthly webinars throughout 2025 to share the latest academic insights. The strengthening of research and publication collaborations between ITS and universities under APTIKOM was also a primary focus of the discussions.

Both APTIKOM and ITS expressed high hopes for the continuity and expansion of this collaboration into various fields that would benefit the broader community. “We want to ensure this collaboration continues, not only in research but also in other initiatives that can provide significant advantages,” Yoyon affirmed.

On the other hand, DTI ITS remains optimistic that this synergy will bring positive impacts on academic development in East Java and beyond. “Through this collaboration, we hope the contributions of information technology lecturers will be more tangible, benefiting both East Java and the wider academic community. Moving forward, some of these activities will even be expanded to other provinces. We want the potential within APTIKOM East Java to be fully utilized for the greater good,” concluded Hari Ginardi.

This collaboration between APTIKOM East Java and the ITS Department of Information Technology is expected to be a strategic step toward advancing academic quality, research, and publications within universities, particularly at ITS and throughout East Java.
