Surabaya, IT Journalistic — On Thursday (13/02), The Department of Information Technology at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) recently hosted students from Labschool Cibubur High School. The visit aimed to introduce the world of information technology and broaden the perspectives of science stream students about career opportunities in the engineering field.

Mr. Hari Ginardi introduces the Information Technology Department to the students of SMA Labschool Cibubur.

During the visit, students received a direct presentation from the Head of the Information Technology Department at ITS and had the opportunity to participate in a laboratory safari tour. The students showed great enthusiasm, particularly when introduced to Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and the department’s various advanced laboratory facilities.

“I found it very interesting because we were taught about AI and even had the chance to try the AI model directly. It was really exciting,” expressed one of the students who participated in the visit.

The activity also provided a real glimpse into studying information technology at the university level. Several students who had already chosen Informatics as their specialization in school acknowledged gaining broader insights, especially regarding AI implementation and its working principles.

The students appreciated the facilities owned by the ITS Department of Information Technology. “The facilities are excellent, comfortable, and clean. The buildings are also impressive. We learned about the various laboratories in the IT department and their respective functions,” added another student.

This visit became particularly relevant considering that SMA Labschool Cibubur has implemented the Merdeka Curriculum, which allows students to choose Informatics as a specialization. Within this specialization, students can learn the basics of programming and website development.

According to school representatives, Labschool students have shown great interest in technology, particularly AI. Some students have even participated in international competitions with various innovations, such as a body height detector and an interactive sound-producing device.

“We hope this visit will further increase Labschool students’ interest in pursuing their education at ITS, considering that many Labschool alumni are already studying here and showing impressive achievements,” stated the school representative.

Through activities like this, the ITS Department of Information Technology continues its commitment to inspiring young generations and preparing them to face an increasingly digital era.
