Surabaya, IT Journalistic — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) once again opens the opportunity for high school and vocational school students to explore ITS further through the Open Campus “Ini Lho ITS” (ILITS) 2025 event on 18-19 January 2025. One of the main highlights of this event is a visit to the Department of Information Technology (DTI). During this activity, students were introduced in-depth to the world of information technology and its future potential.
High school students show great enthusiasm in participating in one day lecture event conducted by ITS Department of Information Technology at Open Campus ILITS 2025
This two-day event featured a variety of educational activities, such as try out session, talk show with inspirational figures, exhibitions, faculty safari tours, and technocraft workshops. During the faculty safari session, participants were guided to explore the departments under the Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTEIC). One of the most noteworthy agendas was the web development workshop at DTI, which introduced the basics of programming, including HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
In an interview with one of the participants, Monic from SMAN 1 Kedamean expressed that the faculty safari helped her solidify her decision. “The faculty safari greatly helped me understand which department aligns with my interests. The workshop also provided a basic understanding of coding,” said Monic enthusiastically.
Another participant, Dio from SMAN 1 Paciran, also shared his views. Although he had not delved into web development before, he felt that the activity offered him new insights. “The technocraft session was quite challenging, especially since I haven’t focused much on web development before. However, I enjoyed learning the basics of HTML and JavaScript. I was also impressed by the technological innovations showcased here,” Dio stated.

In addition to the workshops, a one-day lecture with a DTI lecturer Mr. Husni also left a significant impression on the participants. In this session, Mr. Husni introduced the courses offered at DTI, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), and discussed career prospects for DTI graduates. “I learned that coding in information technology is not as extensive as in computer science. The focus is more on innovation and creative problem-solving, which makes me even more interested in DTI,” Monic added.
Through this event, the Department of Information Technology at ITS successfully showcased its capability as one of the leading forces in preparing the younger generation to face digital era challenges, particularly in IoT, cloud computing, cybersecurity, system integration, and web development. With an approach combining theory and practice, DTI ITS remains committed to producing innovative, highly competitive, and competent graduates.
For many high school and vocational students, ILITS 2025 marked their first interaction with ITS’s campus environment. Beyond gaining a tangible understanding of campus life, they were also impressed by the advanced facilities that support technology-based learning at DTI ITS, such as well-equipped laboratories and an innovative academic atmosphere. “This event really helped me understand the field of information technology and the various career opportunities it offers,” concluded Dio.
The enthusiasm of the organizing committee, coupled with the participants’ excitement, made ILITS 2025 a meaningful event. It not only strengthened ITS’s image as a leading technology campus in Indonesia but also served as an inspiration for the younger generation to join and develop their potential at ITS.
