Ms. Rocel Audrey Batara provided insights on different types of cameras to students of the Department of Information Technology
Surabaya, IT Journalistic — The flash of lights, the sound of camera shutters, and high enthusiasm colored the photography workshop held on Tuesday (March 4). This event became a magnet for students eager to deepen their photography skills. The workshop attracted various participants, including Callista Meyra from the 2023 cohort and Naufan Zaki from the 2022 cohort, who shared their experiences and insights during the training sessions.
Callista revealed that her interest in photography began in elementary school when she joined a photography extracurricular. “I want to hone this skill again,” she stated. Meanwhile, Naufan had a different reason. “I have a passion for photography, and many tasks in my organization relate to this field,” he said enthusiastically.

The most captivating session for participants focused on using lighting and shutter speed to create more professional photos. Callista admitted that she just understood that the faster the shutter speed, the more light enters the lens. On the other hand, Naufan learned how to manually maximize ISO for the best results, after previously being accustomed to automatic mode.
In the digital era, journalistic photography plays a vital role in documentation and publication. Callista emphasized that photo documentation serves as authentic evidence of an event, while Naufan argued that visual media can make news more engaging and less boring.
