Unstoppable Spirit is the Key! SMKN 2 Surabaya Wins at OlimpIT ARA 6.0

Muhammad Dio Rizqi and Fieza Rausyan, students of SMK Negeri 2 Surabaya, showcased exceptional achievement at a prestigious national competition.

Surabaya, IT Journalistic — A remarkable achievement was attained by the PHP>JS team from SMK Negeri 2 Surabaya, which secured 3rd place at the national competition OlimpIT ARA 6.0 held on January 22, 2025. The team, consisting of Muhammad Dio Rizqi and Fieza Rausyan, triumphed over competitors from various schools in this prestigious event.

This competition provided valuable experience for the students. Initially motivated by a simple desire to gain experience and certificates, they unexpectedly advanced to the finals. “We learned many new things, especially how to solve problems quickly and accurately,” one team member stated during an interview.

Their journey to the finals was filled with challenges. They faced numerous difficulties, particularly during the preliminary rounds, which were packed with tough questions and limited time. “The time was short, and there were many questions. Especially in cyber security, calculations were involved, and we had to understand each line of code. We skipped many questions because we hadn’t mastered the material,” they explained.

Despite feeling pessimistic due to low scores initially, a sweet surprise awaited them during the announcement results when they found out they had made it to the finals. “I couldn’t believe we qualified for the final because I saw our scores were low,” one member added with a smile.

In the final round, challenges continued as the team encountered difficult questions again, particularly in cryptography within the cyber category. However, they remained determined. “Cryptography questions were indeed the most challenging, but the rest was manageable. The IoT section was quite fun because there were easier questions, although we still couldn’t finish everything due to time constraints,” they explained.

This achievement resulted from Dio and Fieza’s hard work and dedication in preparing for the competition. In their interview, they revealed that their strong interest in technology and curiosity served as significant motivation for continuous learning and self-improvement. “We learned a lot from online courses and YouTube videos to deepen our understanding of the material,” Dio concluded.

The PHP>JS team also expressed their hopes for future OlimpIT ARA events: “I hope ARA continues to hold quality competitions that are beneficial and prestigious. It would be great if future questions included topics on cloud computing. There were some this time but very few, and none in the finals. If there are cloud-related questions in the finals next time, that would be really cool,” said one team member with enthusiasm.
