The team of lecturers from the Department of Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Information Technology, Andalas University (UNAND), visited ITS, specifically the Faculty of Electrical Technology and Intelligent Informatics (FT-EIC) at ITS on October 4, 2023. The purpose of the UNAND lecturer team’s visit was to benchmark the Digital Learning Development and Implementation Grant Program (P3D) as fellow recipients of the P3D program organized by the government. The visit was led by Dr. Eng. Budi Rahmadya, M.Eng., a lecturer in Computer Engineering at UNAND.
The UNAND lecturer team delegation was welcomed by Dr. I Ketut Eddy Purnama S.T. M.T., Dean of FT-EIC ITS, Dr.techn. Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc., Head of the Information Technology Department, and Henning Titi Ciptaningtyas, S.Kom., M.Kom., a lecturer from the Department of Information Technology, as well as several lecturers from ITS’ Department of Information Technology.
The agenda of this visit was to exchange ideas related to digital learning materials for students, department and faculty management, the addition of new programs and departments, research journals and funding, as well as applications that aid students academically. Budi Rahmadya stated that UNAND’s future prospects include adapting digital development ideas for student learning materials. This is related to UNAND’s change in status to a Legal Entity State University (PTN BH) in 2021. Hari Ginardi, as the Head of the Information Technology Department, mentioned that ITS has undergone optimal digitalization during the pandemic and has tried various interactive methods to ensure that lectures continue to run smoothly.
The creation of interactive online learning media
In order to encourage universities to proactively utilize technology in developing digital content that supports the learning process, the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs is currently conducting the Digital Learning Development and Implementation Grant Program (P3D) for the year 2023. Therefore, the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs has invited many universities to participate in the P3D Program for 2023.
During discussions related to P3D, Henning Titi Ciptaningtyas mentioned that one innovative method for online teaching is to use Animation/Video Explainers that can be used by all ITS students. Other media that ITS has applied during online learning include using myITS platforms such as myITS Classroom and myITS attendance, which are still being used by ITS students. Budi Rahmadya responded that UNAND is currently developing an application that can be functionally used by students. The learning application system allows students to achieve predefined goals and can modify content and make revisions within the application. Additionally, the application includes remedial questions and a question bank.
