Until the ITS graduation on September 17, 2016 the ITS Chemistry Postgraduate Program graduated 5 doctorates (40% graduated with honors). Partner institutions in the implementation of the Doctoral Study Program research include the Advanced Membrane Technology Research Center (AMTEC), the Center for Sustainable Nanomaterials (CS Nano) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Kumamoto University Japan. In addition there are students of the Doctoral program who take part in student exchange for one semester at the School of Chemistry, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
Program Overview
Doctoral Chemistry Study Program has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board-Higher Education (BAN-PT) with a A grade in 2017. The Doctoral Study Program is programmed with a weight of 42 credits and is scheduled in six semesters. Lecture weight with a portion of 12 credits can be completed in two semesters, and 28 credits for a dissertation.
Master Degree Scholarship Towards Doctoral for Bachelor Degree (PMDSU)
The PMDSU program is programmed with a weight of 28-30 credits at the master level scheduled for one year (two semesters). Students who successfully complete the first year program can either continue at the doctoral level (without completing the master program) scheduled for three years (six semesters) with a weight of 42-44 credits including a dissertation (30 credits).
STAFF
The teaching staff of the ITS Chemistry Postgraduate Study Program consists of 21 S3 graduate lecturers from various foreign and domestic universities, with 7 of them having attained professorship.
FACILITIES
ITS’s Postgraduate Chemistry Study Program as part of the ITS Chemistry Department occupies a four-storey K building and a J building with two ITS campuses; which is used as a lecture room, discussion room, seminar room, lecturer room, administration room, laboratory, and library. The lecture hall and seminar room are equipped with air condition and LCD projector. The discussion room, lecturer room, library, and administration room are also equipped with air condition. The Chemistry Department is equipped with Wi-Fi internet networks that are connected to international journal access via ScienceDirect, EbscoHost, Gale Cengage Learning, etc.
Research on Chemistry Postgraduate students is mainly carried out in one of the research laboratories as follows: Laboratory of Materials Chemistry and Energy, Natural Product Chemistry and Synthesis, Instrumentation and Analytical Science, Chemical Microorganism, Molecular Organic Geochemistry. Supporting facilities are available at the ITS Energy Laboratory, as well as partner institutions at home and abroad. Almost all researches of the Chemistry Undergraduate and Postgraduate Program received financial support from lecturers who received research grants from Ministry of Research and Higher Education Republic of Indonesia and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya (ITS) as well as some institutions abroad, even some of the research students have conducted experiments in Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, France, Turkey, and Italy.
