The implementation of distance learning was first implemented in March 2020 in accordance with the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 4 regarding the implementation of education policies in the emergency period of the spread of Covid-19. This policy was carried out in connection with the increasing spread of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia. Covid-19 itself is a new virus that was first discovered in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. This virus attacks the respiratory system in humans with a very fast spread pattern. With a very fast spread pattern and a fairly high risk of death, all activities that apply in the environment are limited and start implementing health protocols. With the circular letter from the Ministry of Education and Culture, it is hoped that it will reduce the impact of the spread of Covid-19.

Distance learning is also implemented at ITS in accordance with the Chancellor’s Circular regarding measures to prevent the spread of corona virus disease (Covid-19) in the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology on March 15, 2020. In the circular, lectures at ITS will be conducted online. through several platforms such as MyITS Classroom, E-Learning, Whatsapp Group, or other media. The letter also stated that practicum activities could be carried out in other relevant forms.

At the beginning of the pandemic, it was an adaptation stage by students and lecturers to carry out lectures and practicums online. Learning activities are carried out through the MyITS Classroom platform, while the implementation of the practicum is still in the adjustment stage. We have been studying online for more than a year. Of course, many changes have been passed and efforts to eradicate the virus have also begun to spread. The government’s efforts to prevent the spread of the virus by administering vaccine doses are the beginning of students’ hopes to undergo face-to-face lectures. The administration of vaccine doses has also been carried out in the ITS environment for students and educators.

In the odd semester lectures for the 2021/2022 academic year, ITS plans to conduct hybrid lectures (online-offline). In connection with this plan, ITS requires all students from various levels of education to submit proof of the Covid-19 vaccination. The proof of vaccination will also be a requirement in participating in the mid-semester evaluation activity. For students who have not or cannot vaccinate, they are required to submit a statement that they have not been vaccinated. These files will later be collected in myITS StudentConnect before the 8th week of lectures or on October 11, 2021.

For the circular letter of WR 1 regarding the submission of proof of vaccination and the format of the statement letter of not being vaccinated, it can be accessed here.
