Departemen Matematika ITS memberangkatkan 15 mahasiswanya untuk mengikuti kegiatan Global Project Based Learning (GPBL) ke Shibaura Institute of Technologi (SIT) Jepang. Selama di STI mereke di dampingi oleh mahasiswa SIT dan mengikuti beberapa kegiatan seperti

  1. Menyelesaikan projeck permsalahan kemudian dipecahkan dengan menggunakan pemodelan matematika dan harus mempresentasikan model yang sudah didapatkan
  2. Pengenalan budaya Jepang seperti seni bela diri Jepang, baju Yukata, dan Origami.
